We use Present Continuous in the following situations:
- The action is happening at the time of speaking. It is not finished.
- To say that somebody is in the middle of doing something.
- To express the change in the usual way of things (getting, becoming, starting, beginning, changing, improving).
- With adverbs of periods around now (today, this week, this year)
We Use Present Simple in the following situations:
- To talk about things in general
- To say that something happens all the time
- To point to the fact that is true in general
- To state how often we do things
- To express your attitude to what is happening ( I think, I believe, I suggest)
