  1. Native Americans came to North America from Asia. At that time the two continents were whole.  There are only 10% of them alive now. 
  2. There were 4 native tribes in North America: Cree [kriː], Wampanoag [ˈwɒmpanoag], Algonquin [ælˌɡɒŋkwɪn], and Iroquois [ˈɪrəkwɔɪ].
  3. Algonquians and Iroquois lived in Great Plains or Woodlands. Iroquois lived on the land of the USA while Algonquians lived on the land of Canada. 
  4. The two tribes had tensions with each other. 
  5. Algonquians spoke one language. It was a musical language and with images. 
  6. Iroquois spoke six different languages.
  7. Algonquians were nomadic. They built wigwams. 
  8. Iroquois were sedentary. They lived near lakes, rivers or streams. Iroquois built longhouses. 
  9. Wigwams were easily transportable and small, for just one or two families to live in. 
  10. Longhouses were about 300 feet long. Up to 30 families (usually extended relatives) lived in longhouses.
  11. A Native American village consisted of about 100 longhouses and was surrounded by a palisade [ˌpæləˈseɪd].
  12. Iroquois were big farmers while Algonquians were hunters. 
  13. Both tribes were religious. They believed in the good Great Spirit and the evil-minded Spirit.  
  14. Iroquois religion was close to Christianity. It helped them to integrate to the white people society faster. 
  15. Native American children did not go to school, as schools did not exist then. Instead, they were learning by watching adults doing their work and listening to stories and music.
